Notepad++ is a great editor with excellent syntax highlighting, bracket highlighting and syntax completion. This all makes life much easier. However, Notepad++'s author sometimes used automatic updates beyond its expected purpose, which can give users an insecure feeling about a tool commonly used for editing source code.
